What is an emergency? Emergency is described as a serious, unpredictable situation requiring immediate attention. Emergency comes in many forms. Natural disasters, wars and pandemics are just some of the more common emergencies that mankind has experienced over the past centuries.

Many of us often ponder to ourselves if we would ever be caught in an emergency? We question the likelihood of us becoming stuck in such a predicament. We console ourselves by saying that the fear is uncalled for. And despite all the countless experiences we have had with ‘emergency’, we still choose to remain in self-denial and continue feigning ignorance towards the possibility of an emergency.

There are however some ‘wise’ men who have been silently and steadily building up their supplies to prepare themselves for an emergency.

Let us take a closer look at how these ‘wise men’ think and act.

Our first priority is to have enough food and water to last through the emergency. Are you agreeable with this stand? Let us imagine that a magnitude 7.0 earthquake has hit your city leaving where you once called home in a state of ruins. The roads are damaged. Electricity and water supplies are disrupted. Circumstances like these are not hard to imagine. During such times, food and water becomes scarce. Those who have painstakingly stock up their food supplies will be reaping in their rewards while the rest of us are slowly tormented with human pangs and misery.

So let us not be complacent and ignorant. Whether or not, man can live through the emergency will determine on how well-prepared he is when emergency strikes.
